What is it?

Manual Lymphatic Drainage (MLD) is a very specific technique targeting the lymphatic system of the body.  The technique is a slow, rhythmical, flowing treatment that has the effect of promoting the flow of lymphatic fluid.

Marion is trained in the technique known as the Vodder Method of Manual Lymphatic Drainage.

Why does it work?

The technique is quite light as the most accessible portions of the lymphatic vessels lie close to the skins surface.  The technique is rhythmical to create a wave like effect encouraging the lymphatic system to move the fluid along its paths.  The technique is always delivered in the same way each time working proximal to distal; clearing areas near to major drainage points before sending additional fluid up to that area for draining.

How does it heal the body?

The lymphatic system is made up of lymph fluid, lymph vessels and lymph nodes.  The lymphatic systems job is to move fluid to and from the tissues of the body from and towards the heart.

The body’s immune function is intimately linked with the efficacy of the flow of lymphatic fluid. Lymphatic fluid is rich in cells that provide protection to the tissues of the body.
